Spotlight Drive is in pre-launch development. The public website is live, but the separate app, a public casting marketplace, and public app accounts are not launched. This center offers practical guidance for evaluating opportunities, protecting personal information, reporting concerns, and understanding current boundaries.
Protect your personal information
- Share only the information reasonably needed for the stage of the opportunity.
- Do not send passwords, one-time codes, full payment-card details, Social Security numbers, government ID images, private participant links, or private audition files through a general contact form.
- Check the sender’s full email address and the destination domain before opening a link or file.
- Keep copies of role notices, terms, releases, payment details, and important messages.
- Ask why sensitive information is needed, how it will be used, and who will receive it before sharing.
Early Access applications are private by default. They are not automatically converted into public or search-indexed profiles.
Casting and opportunity scam warning signs
Slow down when an opportunity creates urgency, secrecy, or pressure. Warning signs can include:
- a guaranteed role, job, representation agreement, award, or income in exchange for payment;
- requests to pay for an audition, send gift cards or cryptocurrency, wire money, or move money for someone else;
- a fake-check arrangement in which you are asked to deposit a check and forward part of the money;
- claims from an agent, producer, casting professional, or company that cannot be verified through an independent channel;
- requests for intimate material, identity documents, banking credentials, or private account access without a clear and legitimate reason;
- unexpected attachments, shortened links, look-alike domains, or a sender who refuses a call, written terms, or basic verification;
- pressure to keep an opportunity secret from a parent, guardian, representative, or trusted professional; or
- payment terms, usage rights, location details, or the identity of the production being withheld until after you commit.
A legitimate class, service, event fee, photographer, or membership is not the same as purchasing a guaranteed role. Costs and terms should be disclosed clearly, and payment must never be misrepresented as a guarantee of casting or employment.
What Spotlight Drive will never ask through a general message
Spotlight Drive will not ask you to reveal a password or one-time code, send a full payment-card number by email, buy gift cards or cryptocurrency, deposit a check and forward money, or pay for a guaranteed casting result. Spotlight Drive will not ask a minor to hide communication from a parent or legal guardian. A public contact form is not a secure channel for private audition media, identity documents, medical information, or confidential production files.
Any legitimate Spotlight Challenge payment should occur only through the checkout and status described on the official Challenge page. A fee does not buy a role, employment, or a guaranteed outcome.
Verify before you act
- Open the official website independently rather than relying on a message link.
- Compare the sender’s address, role, company, and contact information with a trusted source.
- Ask for the project title, role, location, dates, pay or unpaid status, usage, union status when applicable, submission method, and the person responsible for the production.
- Review releases, contracts, and payment terms before providing work or money.
- When unsure, involve a representative, parent or guardian, union, attorney, teacher, or other trusted professional.
Impersonation
Someone may imitate a company, founder, employee, agent, producer, casting director, filmmaker, or performer. Do not rely on a display name, profile photo, logo, or caller ID alone. Preserve the message, account URL, email headers when available, payment request, and screenshots. Report the impersonation to the platform where it appeared and to Spotlight Drive through the contact method below.
Reporting suspicious opportunities or content
Email info@spotlightdrive.com or use the contact form. Include the relevant URL, account or sender, what happened, when it happened, and supporting screenshots that do not expose more sensitive information than necessary. Do not send passwords, full card numbers, government IDs, private participant links, or secret Challenge material.
Because the public app is not launched, in-product blocking and reporting tools are not currently available to public users. Reporting and blocking features may be developed for future product experiences, but they should not be treated as live until Spotlight Drive says they are available.
Minors and guardians
A parent or legal guardian should be involved before a minor shares personal information, auditions, travels, signs a release, accepts work, or communicates privately about an opportunity. Do not move a minor’s conversation to a secret or disappearing channel. Verify the production and comply with applicable child-performer, school, work-hour, location, permit, and guardian requirements.
For the Spotlight Challenge, an entrant under 18 must follow the current guardian-consent process described in the Challenge rules before participation or public showcase. Future product features for minors are not publicly launched; any later process should be described in feature-specific terms and privacy notices before use.
Independent safety resources
If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Spotlight Drive is not an emergency service, law-enforcement agency, union, talent representative, or law firm, and this guidance is educational rather than legal advice.
Current safety principles
- Private professional media and participant data should remain access-controlled.
- People remain responsible for casting, career, creative, and payment decisions.
- Opportunity sources and material terms should be clear.
- Suspicious activity, impersonation, and safety concerns should be reportable.
- Public pages should not expose Challenge prompts, participant records, private links, admin tools, secrets, or webhook values.
No service can verify every opportunity or eliminate every risk. Use independent judgment and professional support appropriate to the situation.
