Tom Holland
Spotlight Profile · Actor and producer
Movement, vulnerability and the adventure film.
Spotlight Drive editorial · Updated October 15, 2026
A performer with a physical foundation
English actor Tom Holland began in the West End production of Billy Elliot the Musical and appeared in The Impossible (2012) before becoming Peter Parker in the Marvel films. He received BAFTA’s EE Rising Star award in 2017. Biography: Tom Holland; BAFTA: Tom Holland, 2017 Rising Star acceptance.
Movement is a useful starting point for watching his work, but physical ability is not the whole performance. A stumble, an attempted recovery or a body held unusually still can make a character’s emotional position visible. Try watching a scene once without concentrating on dialogue, then again listening closely to the response it receives.
Spider-Man and the adventure lead
His Spider-Man films include Homecoming (2017), Far From Home (2019) and No Way Home (2021). In Uncharted (2022), he plays Nathan Drake opposite Mark Wahlberg’s Sully. Biography: Tom Holland; Sony Pictures: Uncharted.
The adventure lead has to keep a story moving while giving the audience someone to follow. Our suggested craft question is how uncertainty survives inside confidence: when does a joke hide anxiety, and when does the film allow a reaction to land? These are questions for close viewing, not claims about Holland’s off-screen personality.
Producing and The Odyssey
Sony announced Holland’s Billy17 production company and a producing deal in December 2024, with Harry Holland and Will South. Sony also identifies him as an executive producer on Uncharted. In The Odyssey (2026), he plays Telemachus under Christopher Nolan’s direction. Sony Pictures: Billy17 producing deal, December 12, 2024; Universal: The Odyssey (2026).
Producing adds a different kind of responsibility to an actor’s career. The announcement of a company is a documented business step; it is not evidence that every announced project has been completed. This profile limits its film table to selected released credits and keeps Spotted review status separate.
