SPOTTED RATINGS · INDEPENDENT REVIEWER INTEREST
Bring your own point of view.
Spotlight Drive is building a genuine independent reviewer panel. Jake recruits reviewers personally. You can express interest here; applying does not guarantee a place, an assignment, payment, or publication. No panel membership is claimed until verification and acceptance are complete.
Existing published Spotted Ratings are single editorial assessments. They are not retroactive panel consensus. Read our scoring methodology.
Prepare an application email.
This page prepares an email draft addressed to jake@spotlightdrive.com. It does not submit an application or create an account. Your email app opens only when you click the prepared email link; you must review and send the email yourself.
Reviewers must be 18 or older, as stated in our methodology. If you are under 18, please use our public learning resources and do not send personal details. Do not provide your birth date or identity documents. Use a professional contact where possible. Do not include identity documents, home addresses, sensitive personal information, private screener links or passwords. This is an expression of interest, not a ballot. Nothing entered here is saved in this page’s browser storage or sent by this form.
Independence and conflicts policy
- Disclose employment, financial interests, close personal or family relationships, involvement in the film, and relevant relationships with its cast, crew, distributor, publicist or sponsor before accepting an assignment.
- An editor decides whether a conflict requires recusal. An excluded or incomplete ballot does not count toward a panel score. Never rate a film you worked on or have a direct financial stake in.
- Do not accept payment, gifts, favors or promised opportunities in exchange for coverage or a score. Access to a lawful screener does not entitle a rights holder to a favorable review.
- Watch the assigned cut and submit your own six-category ballot independently before seeing other reviewers’ scores. Record genuine viewing notes. Do not invent viewing, identities, credentials or consensus.
- Keep private screeners and access credentials confidential. Use the agreed private access process; never put them in public reviews, application emails or score ballots.
- Corrections and ballot revisions require a recorded reason and editorial review. Panel membership, eligible ballot counts and scores must reflect the actual records.
What happens after you send?
- Received: an editor checks the application mailbox. Preparing a draft on this page is not receipt.
- Verification: Jake or an editor follows up to confirm identity, interests, independence and availability. No response time is promised.
- Accepted or declined: the decision is communicated by email. Acceptance and any assignment must be explicit; silence is not acceptance.
- Assignment and ballot: accepted reviewers receive the separate private process before reviewing. Scores are calculated only from complete, eligible genuine ballots.
These are manual editorial steps. This page has no automatic application tracking or account system. Email jake@spotlightdrive.com to ask about an application you have actually sent.
Privacy and retention
The intended retention policy is to delete declined applications after 90 days and review active reviewer records at least yearly. Mailbox and operational-record deletion must be performed by the editor; this page does not automate deletion or verify that it has occurred. Email providers may retain their own copies under their policies.
Application emails are for editorial handling and do not subscribe you to marketing. Read the Spotlight Drive privacy policy and contact us for corrections or privacy requests.
